Guy Beringer QC was a partner at Allen & Overy LLP from 1985 to 2008, and was Senior Partner from 2000 to 2008. During his time there, he advised a wide range of corporate and institutional clients on mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and joint ventures. He has broad experience of working with government agencies and is a non-executive board member of HM Courts Service and a Governor of the College of Law of England and Wales. He also holds board positions in the private sector. Mr Beringer was appointed Queen's Counsel honoris causa in 2006 for contributions to pro bono & legal services.
Virgílio Juvane, Mozambican, has been Adviser in the Education Section of the Social Transformation Programmes Division since August 2004. His main responsibilities focus on teacher professional development issues across Commonwealth countries and the coordination of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa’s Working Group on the Teaching Profession hosted and supported by the Commonwealth Secretariat. Virgílio was formerly education planner for more than two decades at the Ministry of Education of Mozambique and served as Director of Planning for nine years before joining the Commonwealth Secretariat.
Keith Robinson is a chartered accountant who has held a number of
senior positions in the City of London. He was Secretary to the London
Stock Exchange from 1991 to 2000. He then became General Secretary of
the Diocese of London, a post from which he retired at the end of
September 2009.
